One of the most desirable suburban communities in the St. Louis area, Town & Country, Missouri, sits on about 12 square miles of land within western St. Louis County. The city is home to many of the area's more wealthy residents, with median annual household income here in 2007 at almost $158,000, and estimated median house or condo value at almost $735,000. Homes in the area are generally nice and maintain their value well. The city has actually seen a slight population decrease since the 2000 census, with the population estimated at just over 10,700 in 2008.

The city was incorporated in 1950 with less than 1,000 residents.

Health care employs around 20 percent of residents here, with some of the region's most respected medical institutions located with the community -- StLukes Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center and St. John's Mercy Medical Center. Education, professional, scientific and technical services are the other common industries for workers.

Children in the community attend schools in the Parkway, Kirkwood and Ladue school districts. Maryville University and Missouri Baptist University are both just minutes away, and there are several other colleges further away, particularly in St. Louis. The city has its own Town & Country Symphony Orchestra, which entertains residents with free concerts throughout the year. The city'sBellerive Country Club was home to the 1992 PGA Championship and 1965 US Open, and it also is home to the Crystal Lake Country Club.
