A popular and distinctive neighborhood within the city of St. Louis, Missouri, the area known as Central West End is a trendy and historic area, including some of St. Louis's most famous buildings and attractions and its finest architecture. The area encompasses the region from Midtown St. Louis's western edge out to Union Boulevard, and it borders the city's massive Forest Park, which houses inside its many attractions like the St. Louis Art Museum, the St. Louis Zoo, the Municipal Theater and the St. Louis Science Center

Historic buildings in the area include the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis (the New Cathedral) onLindell Boulevard at Newstead Avenue, a beautiful building is home to the world's largest collection of mosaics; the former homes of famous poet T.S. Eliot and scholar J. W. R.Hutchison . The playwright Tennessee Williams and author Kate Chopin also grew up around here. Many of the residential homes in the area are very old and well kept, and some are included on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is also home to Sally Benson's home, the setting for the stories which were adapted into the now-classic movie, "Meet Me in St. Louis."

The neighborhood is home to such important St. Louis medical institutions as the Washington University Medical Center,the Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the St. Louis Children's Hospital, as well as the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The Central West En has its own library, the Saint Louis Public LibrarySchlafly Branch, as well. To get to and from the area, a MetoLink station and a MetroBus center are conveniently located here, and provide options for taking train or bus around the area.
