A small, affluent suburban community in St. Louis County, Clarkson Valley, Missouri, is one of the 91 municipalities of the county and lies just south of Interstate 64, about 30 miles west of downtown St. Louis, sitting at an elevation of almost 600 feet above sea level. The community is a very wealthy enclave of the St. Louis area, and the annual median household income for residents here is more than $150,000, quite higher than local and state averages.

Clarkson Valley had a population of just under 3,000 at the 2000 U.S. census, and it makes up an area of just about three square miles. The town was incorporated in 1989 and it is governed by a mayor and a board of aldermen, with six aldermen on the board. The city is made up of three distinct wards, and each ward has two aldermen on the city board. More casually speaking, the community is made up of 13 subdivisions:Crestview Middle School; Marquette High School; Forest Hills Country Club; Fru-Con Center; Alizadeh Orthodontics Building; First Church of Christian Scientist; and Midwest Music Conservatory.

Children living in Clarkson Valley will attend public schools at schools in the Rockwood School District, which include two elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools, though the only school physically located within the boundaries ofClarkson Valley is Marquette High School. There are many colleges and universities in the St. Louis region, and those living here wishing to further their education will find plenty of options within 30 minutes' drive.

Clarkson Valley has two country clubs of its own: Forest Hills Country Club and Meadowood Country Club. It is located near the smaller Spirit of St Louis Airport, where those with smaller or corporate aircraft can fly in and out. Finance and insurance, education and health care are the industries in which it is most common for residents here to be employed, and the nearest hospital is St Luke's Hospital, which is just about 4 miles away in Chesterfield.
