Chesterfield Real Estate Information
A mid-sized city and a second-ring western suburb of St. Louis, Chesterfield, Missouri, lies in St. Louis County, about 25 miles west of the city. As of estimates taken in 2006, the city was home to a population of nearly 50,000. It encompasses and area of nearly 33 square miles, of which a little more than one square mile is water. Chesterfield is known as being home to the Spirit of St. Louis Airport, an airport largely used by corporate jets and smaller aircraft, and is the site of the longest outdoor strip mall in America. The hospital in the city, St. Luke's, is a top-rated medical center and is also one of the city's largest employers. Other major employers here include the Parkway School District, theRockwood School District, Pfizer, McBride & Son Companies, Reinsurance Group of America, Inc., and Amdocs, Inc., all of which have more than 500 employees.
Students who live in Chesterfield will attend schools at one of two districts, depending on specific residence. The Parkway School District includes 18 elementary schools, five middle schools and four high schools, while theRockwood School District is made up of 19 elementary schools, six middle schools and four high schools. Both schools also serve children from other nearby cities as well. There also are eight private schools in the city, and local and nearby colleges includeFontbonne University, Logan College of Chiropractic, Maryville University and William Woods University.
Attractions to enjoy in Chesterfield include the Botanical Garden's Butterfly House, more than 300 acres of parkland, the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex and the Family Aquatic Center, and theHardee's Iceplex , with two NHL arenas and one Olympic-sized ice arena. Arts institutions include the St. Louis Civic Orchestra at Logan College, the Kemp Auto Museum, the Gallery at Chesterfield Arts and Stages St. Louis. The Stages Performing Arts Academy is found here and has plans to construct a new arts center and academy in the near future.
